The owner/operator, Chris Sharkey is a fitness/health enthusiast, accumulating over 10 years of weight lifting and exercise experience. Chris is a Certified Personal Trainer, Fitness Nutrition Specialist, Performance Enhancement Specialsit and a Corrective Exercise Specialist, all through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Some of the other credentials Chris possesses include : Life Coaching Level 1 (Champion Performance Systems Inc.), Insanity Certified (Beachbody), and CPR/AED Level C. Aside from these certifications Chris has played many years of elite level hockey, ranging from Bantam AAA, Midget AAA, Junior B, Junior A and Western Hockey League. Chris also competed in two men's bodybuilding shows in June 2016 and 2017 (ABBA Northerns), where he placed 8th (2016) and 6th (2017) among some of the most competitive physiques in northern Alberta.
Chris formerly spent his days as the Assistant Fitness Manager and full-time Personal Trainer at Glenora World Health Club, in Edmonton. Chris had been there as a personal trainer for the last 5 years, training clients of all fitness levels, ages, and with differing medical conditions. Whether the goal is weight loss, performance enhancement, muscle building or maintaining a healthy lifestyle, he has helped many reach their goals. Chris also taught group exercise classes, including Insanity, HIIT 45, spin and core classes all while maintaining the standards necessary to be a top employee and role model within the company.
Chris is in his fifth year of business as owner and operator of Shark Bodies Fitness, where he handles large group/team strength training for the Canadian Athletic Club, Ian Gordon Goaltending, Clansmen Jr. Rugby, and online fitness programs for clients, including customized workout programs and nutrition planning. As well, he has been a guest speaker at corporate functions talking about the importance of exercise and nutrition. Fitness is his passion and helping people to attain their dream body, or reach their goals is very fulfilling. Chris takes his work seriously and owes a lot of his success to the structure and discipline involved with being an elite level hockey player. What better way to give back than to be a coach and mentor to our young athletes of today.
